Marsworth Steam & Classic Vehicle Rally 18/06/2017

I had to refuel my bike after our trip to Harley Reading the previous day with Sam. Made my way to Otterspool Way and saw Bill and Ian already waiting and not long before Pat & Brian arrived. We waited until 10:30 but no one else was to join us. Brian said he knew the way there but was not too sure which exit to take once there. As I had the SatNav it was decided that I would take the lead.

We jumped onto A41 for 17 miles before turning off onto B4635 then B488 and arrived in Marsworth 45 minutes later. We were taking it easy as Bill was on his classic and was doing 55 Mph average.

On arrival we were asked to register and pay £5 a head. This was the first time we had to pay entry ticket. They told us to pre-register for next year to avoid future entry fees. We were then directed to park with other motorcycles. Bob Norman, Peter Mayne, Frank Martin and some of the others had arrived earlier.

We all got out of our motorcycle gear very quickly as it was one of the hottest day of the year. Made ourselves comfortable on our portable chairs and downed few ice cold drinks. Watched all kinds of displays taking place in the arena. From dog trials to tractor displays. There were the usual trade stalls and good collection of steam engines. Lots of people taking an interest in Bill’s Classic. Pat had to have her ice cream and she even treated me to one who was I to complain? After smelling vinegar from people eating fish n chips nearby I could no longer resist and had to have a small portion.

After such a wonderful day it was time to head home.
